Thanksgiving break has been very productive, at least in ISM. I took a break to spend time with family of course, but after visiting with family and completing my homework, I was able to make some progress in ISM through research. I found some very beneficial articles on the impacts of midazolam on the mind after operations, and I am hoping to find more information on what parts of midazolam have such a large impact on the brain in order to apply that to other medications, as well as if certain procedures or methods of anesthetic administration affect the amount of POCD. I have not had any more research interviews, however, my research in itself has been productive and I feel that even if my last research interview is over Christmas break it will still be beneficial to my work as though I would have completed my original work at that point, I still would be gaining information on POCD or anesthesiology in general. Next week, I hope that I will be able to schedule my next interview, find ways to apply midazolam's properties to other medications, and also find properties of anesthesia application that affect Post Operative Cognitive Dysfunction.
